Superkids Reading Lesson:
Today we will work on Handwriting with our new letters X and Y. We start each Superkid lesson with the Superkid's animated song so please listen to the XY song to set the tone for the lesson.
Then have children complete handwriting pages X and Y on pages 2 and 3. Reinforcing good handwriting and good letter formation for this page. Remind children to always start letters at the top. Ask them to sing our letter at the top song for you.
There are sentences at the bottom of page 2 and 3 that I like to call "shadow sentences". Review with the children the use of capital letter always starting a sentence and all sentences have an ending mark. Point out the 2 short sentences on page 2. On page 3 review the "talking marks" or quotation marks in these sentences. Have children read the dialogue sentence first to themselves and then aloud. Point out the dialogue punctuation and exclamation mark to the children and then have them trace the sentences and then try to write them as a perfect "shadow of the authors writing in the tracing sentence.
If You have time for more practice with ending sound X please
Download and print the Blackline master in the link below:
*If you have trouble downloading this Blackline master just write out some words ending in x like: box, ox, ax, fox, and six and have the children rewrite them with you and then do a dictation sentence like...The fox and the ox like the box.

For this Superkid activity print the blackline master page 47 and gather, scissors, and glue. Help children name each picture clue at the bottom. (six, fox, ox, ax, box) Point out the picture names in the second row, and explain that some of the words are missing the letter x at the end. Tell them to trace the x in the first word and then write x to complete the other words. Have them read the completed words aloud. Tell children to write the words again in the next two rows for added practice using letter x at the end of words. You can then dictate a simple sentence using one of these ending x words and see if your Kinder can write your dictated story. Example of a sentence: The kids love the big box.
Here are some easily accessible materials from Superkids Reading for students at-home learning. Visit our Reading programs literacy resources page for some fun activiites. There is even a Golly Bingo game and some tips for Read Alouds and much more: Use as Enrichment when you have extra time.
Writing:
Continue to work on finishing your Bunny drawing and writing today:
I could not resist sending this Bunny "Draw Along" with one of out favorite Artist Patty from Deep Space Sparkle.
Today she is drawing and painting a adorable bunny. Let's Draw Along with her today.
I'm sure the Easter Bunny visited all the sweet Kinder's over the weekend and they may still be thinking bunny thoughts so lets weave that interest into our writing today. I thought it would be fun to "Draw Along" with Patty and then to have your Kinderkid write a Bunny Story of own.
I sent in your packet a page that is a reminder of the stages of writing. Have your child review these stages with you. I use these a lot when they are wanting to say they don't want to write or they cannot write. Strategies of writing help to give them a starting place.
This project will probably take 2 days to complete. Here is the Link: https://youtu.be/V8LS57tgNxoe
Here is also a link to Jan Brett reading her beautiful story The Easter Egg from her home art studio. We did an Author Study of Jan Brett during January when we read her story the Mitten and compared it to the original Mitten story. She is a favorite author/illustrator mine. I saw her in person one time and she is a joyful spirit for sure. Here is the link to her reading for inspiration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ya7E7EDo1kc

We would have had Library time today if we were at school so Mrs. Clarice has recorded some storytime readings for you that I have put in the resource section titled "Clarice's Story Time", or you might want to go to Epic or Vooks and pick a great book to read today. There are also some Library Readers on our class Facebook Page if you want to listen to some great stories and great readers.
