Today is the Annunciation.
Watching Mass with Father Tom might be a wonderful way to start this day.
His mass is always online for you to see on the IC webpage and then on utube by 11am.
Please remember to not stress over the Daily Assignments! I know stress is real in this crazy time and I am posting to help you not to bring more stress to you. I am moving towards making the assignments more open ended so you can do more or less depending on what is happening in your particular situation. I am here for you. We can do this.
Love and Prayers,
Mrs. Jones

Reading and Writing:
Thank you for downloading the Superkid on-line learning. We will use the online piece in Reading today. Now that we have reviewed the reading from Letter K and Qu we will move on to letter review for letter J. Ettabetta is the "SuperNoodle" or Leader of the club for letter J. Please listen to the letter J song that goes with page 22, you can find the song under the materials tab on the Superkid Sight. Follow up after song by circling the things that have the letter J sound. Then move on to page 23 and have your Kinder practice handwriting of capital J and lower case j. Remember we always start at the top for all letter. The words the children us when writing the letter are down and curve...down and curve. The children are accustomed to saying the words as they write the letters. This is called "Progression of Print" when the children "say the way while you write the way". It helps them remember how to write the letter during regular writing not just handwriting. After they have written the letter J's and underline their 2 favorite upper case J's and lowercase j's, then proceed with the sentence. I like to call these sentences shadow sentences because they try to read the sentence then trace the sentence and finally try to reproduce the sentence just like the sentences is written in the blue letters now in the blankline. I like to say that their sentence should be a perfect shadow of the traced sentence with the same capitals and lowercase letters and the same ending mark. In this sentence please help them understand why the word Jack and Jill (names) and point out the ending mark of a period. If you feel your child needs more practice on handwriting letter J's you can print ice cream writing paper from the Superkid sight under Resources. If your Kinder is still wanting to work more today proceed then to page 24 This page is to practice discrimating words that are alike. Have them read words to you by stretching and reading words and then do the color code using the new words at the bottom of the page. Remember do as much or as little as your sweet Kinder can handle today. You can also always go to those Word Lists I send home for additional decoding practice and sentence writing. Lastly in reading today there are lots of readers of all levels from beginning readers to challenging. See if your little one can read you a story from Superkids sometime today.

Writing Time: I thought it would be fun for the Kinders to use the Virtual Field Trip link below to go on a virtual field trip to a zoo or aquarium of their choice. Have them pick out with you a Zoo or Aquarium from the websight to take a field trip to and then to write about some of the animals and things they saw on their field trip. Use the same writing journal strategies you used yesterday. Tell them they will watch the video and write about it after they go on their field trip. Remember to have them use those same Writing Steps as always: 1 THINK about the video and what they want to write. 2. DRAW a picture to go with what you will write 3. LABEL their picture 4. WRITE sentences. (encourage them to write at least 3 sentences) this may take more than one day to complete. 5. SHARE their story with someone. The stages of writing really help them to focus and gives them some structure to their writing. Do as much as you can on this today and we will continue this tomorrow because I think they will love it.

Math: In Math we are continuing to review addition in Chapter 5. Work through as many math review pages a you feel comfortable with today.A fun Page is 323-324. These are called Foldables. These Foldables reinforces the concept of adding numbers. Tear out the page and cut off the top banner. Fold in half along the green dotted line. Cut along the orange dashed lines to make five tabs. Have students start with the first tab and count the objects in the first group. Write the number. Have students count the objects in the second group. Write the number. Have students tell how many are in all. Write the number. Repeat with each tab. You could then incorporate these Foldables with the Lego Addition game you started yesterday. The children should be able to write their own equations at this stage and to solve them with their hands on items. We have done equation writing in Station time. Use Legos of 2 different colors to make additions equations. Do as much or as little addition as you feel is appropriate today for your child's interest and stamina. We want them to be solid on addition equations before we move on to subtraction.
RELIGION:
Start your Religion time together today with a prayer:
This is our Kindergarten Prayer:
Dear God,
We thank you everytime we pray for keeping us safe throughout this day, Bless my friends and family and bless me to in everything I say and do. Amen
Our Bible Story today is about Jesus' miracle of the Loaves and Fishes. You can read the story together in the Religion papers from John 6:3-15. I had always made a little basket out of paper that the children sewed together with yarn and then made the five loaves and 2 fishes to put inside the paper made basket while you talk about how Jesus provides for us in many ways. I don't know exactly how to get my master to you to make so maybe the children can just draw the basket and the fish and loaves. You are all so creative you can probably come up with something fabulous to help illustrate the story so the children will have a rememberance of this special story. In this story the people are physically hungry but sometime we are hungry for friends, for love, for acceptance for security and Jesus can help us with all the things we need. There are lots of great stories and utubes about the Loaves and Fishes you could look up to supplement this beautiful story.
