Welcome to our second week of our IC on-line school.
*Religion Time: Today we will start Chapter 19 Jesus Wants Us To Love pages 167-170.
In our time learning about Jesus today lets begin with a prayer:
Dear Jesus,
May we understand how wide, how long,
how high, and how deep
Your love is for us
and how you want us to share
that love with others to bring glory to your name.
Amen
In our lesson today read the Bible Verses in John 15:12 (page 167). Help your child complete pages 167-170.
Follow up your Lesson by cutting out heart shapes and writing things you have done or will do in the next week to show your love for others. Glue these heart shapes on a paper plate or construction paper. Write Jesus' words from John 15:12 on the middle of the paper plate with the hearts surrounding it. Hang it somewhere in your house so you can remember to Love like Jesus taught us.

*Superkids Reading: Today we will do pages 28-29 in Unit 9. I start every lesson with the song that goes with that unit to help with review our character, set the tone for reading time and to settle in for Superkids. After reviewing Ettabetta's J song today start pages 28-29. This lesson can be slightly tricky because it is our first use of quotation marks. Ettabetta is doing "Lip Flips" which are similar to "Tongue Twisters". Ettabetta will introducing quotations marks. I like to call quotation marks "talking marks" in the Kinderland. It seems to make more sense to them. See if your little one can read the speech bubbles first, and then turn those speech bubbles into a sentence with "talking marks". The idea of speech bubbles is the same as "talking marks", one is just more visual than the other. They can look at the picture clues to help them with their word discrimination. They will also be using the new sight word said to complete the sentences. After completing the reading and writing piece, then move on to the last part of the lesson which checks for comprehension. See if they can read the sentences they have constructed and glue the correct picture clue over the top of the speech bubble. TIP: make sure to put just a small line of glue on the TOP of the picture clue and glue over the speech bubble so they can still lift up the picture clue and check their answers. We have done speech bubble covers before, they just need a reminder not to go crazy with the glue.
* We usually have Computer on Monday morning so have your kinder go to Mrs. Garza's Resources and pick a game. I have been doing games with Addition and Subtraction but any game that practices skills is perfect. One of my favorite pages if Turtle Diary. It has neat games and can be organized by grade and subject matter. Enjoy! Our Computer Class is usually 30 minutes.
*Writing Time: Today in Writing Time use any paper you have and lets do a drawing and a writing. I thought it might be fun for the kids to watch MO WIllem's 1st Lunch Doodle and see his techniques for turning doodles into drawings and use those to write a short story today about what they doodle draw.
I love how he talks about being an author and I think the children will like how he opens up different drawers in his studio and shows the sketches and stages of writing he goes through to make each book.

Math Time: This week I am not going to have you do specific pages in Chapter 5 because it seems like alot are at different places in the chapter because of different circumstances and that is super fine so lets just leave this open ended to your discretion. This is a review and check for understanding, as well as, fluency practice so lets just try to finish the practice pages by the end of this week so we can start Subtraction next week. I will add enrichment activities if your child is wanting more addition practice and you have time to help them with it.
Here is an enrichment activity: Make a Plus One Book. Have your child decorate a cover entitled: Plus One. Have them write a plus one fact on each page, starting with 1+1=_______ on page 1, then 2+1=___________on page 2,etc as far as they would like to go. Make sure to answer each equation and add pictures to go along with each equation.
