My name is Mrs. Jones and I was so excited to find out that you are in my kindergarten classroom this year at Immaculate Conception School! You will love kindergarten so much! We learn to love Jesus and to love one another as we learn to read, write, add, subtract, and to count to 100 and many other exciting things.
Thursday May 14th, 2020 Our Last Full Day Of IC-On-Line Kindergarten....................We made it!5/14/2020
Congratulations wonderful Families and Kindergarten Children we made it to the end of IC-On Line Kindergarten together! I want to thank you in so many ways for helping me make it through this difficult time by sharing your children with me. I have enjoyed seeing so many of the pictures you have sent me of all your family time together. What wonderful families you have! I have gotten to know you in such a special way through all of our ups and downs during this difficulty, but now we are coming out on the other side and what a great feeling it is. We have lived, loved, played, studied, learned, and you have enriched my life by sticking together through this year and this time. I have been lucky enough to meet the children's Papa's and Nanny's and Aunts and Uncles and brothers and sisters, as we have all worked together to keep our lives moving and I treasure it all so very much. I will never forget you all! My heart is full! I certainly have missed seeing the bright smiling faces of the Kinder's each morning as they would bustle in happily each morning to my class and I will never take that for granted again and SO look forward to school resuming again and everyone having a reunion! Please come visit me on Ice- Cream Social in August. Let the children know how proud I am of them and that when I see them in the hallway next year I am thinking and praying for them and am their greatest fan! Remember that I will always love and be interested in your child and his destiny wherever he or she goes, whatever he or she does, whatever he or she becomes and I thank you for letting me be part of their lives as their teacher and their friend. I would like to continue to share in their joys and their sorrows and please call on me if there is anything further I can ever do for you or your child. Let us always remain friends! Love Always, Mrs Jones Today I thought it would be fun to Make a Time Capsule of some memories from this time of Staying Safe at Home with our Families. Here is a printable Time Capsule of Memories from our stay at home time.

Superkid's Reading
Pages 30-31
Ask children to turn to page 30 and look at the first box. Have them read aloud the words under the picture. Ask which word names the picture. (bed) Tell children to circle the word bed. Ask if bed is the blue or orange word. For each box, have children read the two words and circle the word that names the picture. To review, ask children to read aloud the word they circled and tell what color it is.
Ask children to turn to page 31. Explain that this page has sentences that tell about things the Superkids did. Have children read the sentence at the top of the page
to themselves and then aloud together. Point out that the sentences on the handwriting lines give two different opinions. Remind them that an opinion is someone’s thoughts or feelings about something. Read the two opinions aloud together and ask children if they liked or did not like it when the Superkids scrubbed the bus.Remind them there is no right or wrong answer. Have them trace the sentence that says how they feel about what the Superkids did.
.Have children read sentences and write opinion statements. Have children read the sentences about other things the Superkids did. On the lines under each sentence, have them write, “I did like it.” or “I did not like it.” to say how they felt about the activity each sentence describes. Point out that the picture next to the sentence can help them remember what the Superkids did.Have children give reasons telling why they did or didn’t like something.
Flying to First Grade the Virtual Way
Dear Parents,
We want the Kinderfriends to get the special recognition they deserve for finishing Kindergarten strong so Mrs. Renner and I are mailing them "Kindergarten Certificates". When you get your Certificate in the mail in the next few days, please snap a picture of your Kinder holding their Certificate and then send your picture to Mrs. Pendleton at [email protected]. Mrs. Pendleton will then make a Fly to First Grade Virtual Video with all the Kindergarteners "flying" to 1st grade for next Week. Thank you Mrs. Pendleton! SO be watching for your child's certificate in the mail and then snap a picture holding it and send to Mrs. Pendleton. Also, in their packet with their certificate we are sending a Mother's Day activity for your little one to finish and give their mother's on Sunday for Mother's Day. Maybe Dad or a brother or sister could help complete this for Mom.
Thank you Wonderful Families! Any questions please email me.
Love,
Mrs. Jones

Superkid's Reading
Pages 25-27
28-29
Ask children to turn to page 25 and look at the list of words. Explain that these are Memory Words they have learned to read in Superkids’ Club. Ask them to read the list of words to themselves. Then have them read the list aloud several times until they can read each word smoothly without hesitation.
Next you will have children write Memory Words to complete sentences.
Check that children have their books open so that both the word list on page 25 and the sentences on page 27 can be seen at the same time. Tell them to look at the first sentence on page 27. Tell them to look at the first sentence on page 27.
Point out the blank handwriting lines. Explain that one of the Memory Words in the box next to the sentence belongs on the lines. Read the sentence aloud once with the word to in place of the blank lines and then a second time with the word of. Ask which Memory Word, to or of, makes sense in the sentence. (of) Tell children to write of on the lines in the sentence. Have children read each remaining sentence twice, each time replacing the blank with one of the Memory Words from the box next to the sentence. Tell them to write on the lines the word that makes sense in the sentence. Have children associate pictures with words. Tell children to turn the page with the Memory Words so that the pictures on pages 26 and 27 are showing. Help them identify the pair of pictures next to each sentence. Then have them look at the first sentence and identify the word in red. (gumdrops) Tell them to circle the picture of the gumdrops next to the sentence. For the remaining sentences, have children read the red word and circle the matching picture next to the sentence. To review, have children name the red word in each sentence and tell whether they circled the first or second picture.
Page 28-29
Tell children to turn in their Superkid's workbooks to pages 28–29. Help them name the pictures on these pages. Then tell them to find the picture of Alf at the top of page 28. Ask children what sound they hear at the beginning of Alf (/a/) and what letterstands for that sound. (A) Have them write capital A and lowercase a on the lines under the picture of Alf. For the other pictures, have children say each picture name to themselves, identify the letter that stands for the sound at the beginning of the picture name, and then write the capital and lowercase forms of the letter on the lines under the picture. Review when finished.
Then use the traditional “Alphabet Song” to introduce alphabetical order. Point out to children that they have written all the letters of the alphabet in alphabetical order. Explain that alphabetical order is the order in which the letters are sung in the “Alphabet Song.” Invite children to sing the traditional “Alphabet Song” with you. Sing the song slowly, especially for the letters l m n o p, and have children point to the letters under the pictures as they are named.Give children practice writing capital and lowercase letters in alphabetical order. Ask children what the first letter of the alphabet is. (A)) Tell them to trace the capital A and lowercase a printed in blue at the bottom of page 28. Ask what letter comes next in the alphabet. (B) Have them trace the capital B and lowercase b. Point out the space on the lines after Bb. Ask what letter comes next. (C) Have children write capital C and lowercase c on the lines. To complete the page, have children trace or write the rest of the letters in alphabetical order from left to right across the two pages. Point out that if they are not sure which letter comes next, they can look at the order of the letters they wrote on the top part of the pages.
Review alphabetical order by naming a letter and having children tell which letter comes before or after it.

Superkids Reading
Listen to the Z song before you begin today.
Ask children to turn to pages 24–25 in their Superkid's Workbook. Explain that the pictures show things that happened in the Superkids’ Club stories, but the pictures need to be put in the right order.. Tell children to cut along the pink and gray lines to separate the picture. Have Child cut along the blue lines to separate the two color strips and the zipper. Tell them to set aside the two color strips and the zipper to use later. Cut out pictures and glue them in order. Help children to use the words first, next,, and last in talking about where to place their pictures before gluing them down.
1st row: Superkids cleaning the bus, the decorated bus. 2nd row: The Wagwags swimming, wet Wagwags smiling. 3rd row: Alf cutting up the TV box, Alf in the tent. Ask children to describe the first picture at the top of page 24. (a dirty bus) Have them find the two pictures they cut out that show the dirty bus. Ask what the Superkids did to the dirty bus after they found it. (They cleaned it.) Tell them to put the picture of the Superkids cleaning up the bus in the box next to the picture of the dirty bus. Ask what the Superkids did next after they cleaned the bus. (They decorated it.) Have children put the picture of the decorated bus in the box next to the picture of the Superkids cleaning the bus.
Follow this procedure to help children put the other pictures in order. Then have children glue the pictures in place. Help children use the words first, next, and last in their summaries
Next, have children make the letter card for Z.
Give your child a piece of heavyweight paper and glue. Tell children to take out the green and pink strips and the zipper they cut out from page 25. Give children step-by-step instructions for making the letter card, using the sequence words first, next, and last. On the paper, children should first place and glue down the green strip at the top part of the z, next the zipper as the slanted part of the z, and last the pink strip as the bottom part of the z. When they finish, have them trace their z with a finger as they say “zip, zip, zipper!”

In Kindergarten we like to hatch Ducklings each year in our class incubator. This year since we are apart we will do it by watching it together on a video. First we will watch an award winning book called
Make Way For Ducklings by Robert McCloskey
In our classroom incubator it usually takes 2 days for all of our ducklings eggs to hatch. This video is nice because they have fast forward it so you can see it clearly and quickly. This is our introduction to the life cycle of the duckling.
Superkid's Reading Lesson
Page 20-23
Review the Memory Word and decodable words from the story.
Write these out for your Kinder:
was mess boss rabbit dragon dentist planets gumdrops pretzels
Tell children that these words are in the story they are going to read. Point out that the first word is their new Memory Word. Have them read was with you. Tell them that was is underlined in pink in the story to help them remember to read it without blending the sounds for the letters. Help children blend the sounds to read the other words. Have them read the words aloud several more times until they can read smoothly and without hesitation. Ask which words mean more than one of something. (planets, gumdrops, pretzels)
Discuss the story title and activate prior knowledge. Have children turn to page 20. Read the story title, “The Superkids’ Album,” aloud with them. Explain that an album is a book of photographs. Tell them photo is a shorter word for photograph. Discuss with children photo albums they have at home or have seen other places.
Tell children that the Superkids’ album includes pictures of fun things the Superkids did in their club. Give them a few minutes to look at the pictures on pages 20–23.
Discuss text features. Have children turn back to page 20. Point out the two sets of sentences below each picture. Explain that photo albums often include captions, words or sentences that explain what is shown in a picture. Point out that each picture in the Superkids’ album has one caption that describes the picture correctly and one that does not. Tell children that they will read both captions and then figure out which is the correct caption for each picture.
Use Student Book pages 20–23 and white crayons. Help set a purpose for reading. Tell children they can use the pictures in “The Superkids’ Album” and what they remember from previous stories about the Superkids’ club to figure out which captions belong in the photo album.
Have children look at first picture and discuss what is happening in it. Then ask children to read aloud the two captions under the picture. Have your child say which caption they think is correct and why. Help them support their answers using details in the picture and details they recall from the related story. Tell them to circle the correct caption with a white crayon. Discuss why the other caption is not correct.
Repeat the procedure for the remaining pictures and captions in the story.
